Barrage
Ok, i am a ranger and I looked at the stats of this skill.. no wonder everyone uses it (i say everyone, i mean alot).
I use it in pve.. helping out some mates get up and seeing as i'm lv 20 in ascalon... it takes like 4 enermies healths down to nothing pretty much... GREAT
PVP.... UW... FoW.... hard places... when do you attack more than one at a time... its target, shoot. How does taking a tiny bit of health of another enemy help ATALL??? I could see how it would be alot beeter if you could apply poison... bleeding... fire, but no? It removes preportion when you use it.
PVP... W/MO just storm you anyway.. you can get a few double shots on monks and eles clost together but once again, woo you did unnoticable dmg.
Can anyone tell me a way to use barrage effectivly in PVP... or hard PvE?
I am not impressed so far.

Hmmm good question I think Judges Insight or something else that makes your next attack do something would go w/ barrage. Maybe with ele conjure + elemental bow + barrage no to sure tho.

i'll back Davis up on that one. As a R/Mo Zealous Ranger, I use Judge's Insight a lot. Combining it with skills like Barrage and Lightning Reflexes, I get much more use out of the JI to do damage faster. But you're right that it's mostly for PvE use. Even in an 8x8 PvP match, most teams are smart enough not to stand too close together for fear of AoE attacks (which Barrage is prolly the closest thing to an elem's AoE assaults).

It does combine with enchantments, it still activates hexes, it is affected by Order of Pain and so on - if you have buffs it can deal great damage. Even something simple like Judge's Insight and Favourable Winds will bump damage up substantially.

Yes favourable winds... but do you guys have any recommended castings i could do as a pure ranger (just points ni expertise, marksmen, wilderness)
I would like to do mass group dmg
I just came out of a failed HoH and it can get quite a few hits in i see. Especially if teams don't split. I got full benifit... 6 arrows landed!
Still, does anyone have any thing i could cast as a pure R... or a Mo cast which doesnt involve attributes but i'm doubtful.

Put a Zealous string on it and just spam Barrage + Tiger's Fury. One or 2 barrages might not do much damage, but when you spam it nonstop (you should be able to with 14 expertise and a zealous string) it should do some very nice damage over a period of time.

There are a lot of other threads in here about how to combine something with barrage to make it more powerful.
You can't do it without investing attribute points though.
The best that I've seen is zealous bow + barrage + tiger's fury + judge's insight, but that still requires some investment in Smiting and Beastmastery.
My question to you: What do you want from Wilderness survival so badly that you're not taking Tiger's Fury, aka the best attack speed buff in the game? Wilderness Survival generally has preps, and those don't work with Barrage.
Given those restrictions, there's not much you can do to add to your barrage damage. Either become flexible on your skills and attributes or stop trying to buff barrage.

Hmm, good point scaphism... But i have no points to spend now to start doing beastmastery... my build is made up of...
Barrage
Penitrating attack
Apply Poison
Kindle arrows
Distracting Shot
Barbed trap (sometimes replaced with another distracting shot)
Favorable Winds
Light of Dwayna
As you can see only real combo is... Favorable wind + prep + penitrating shot.
I figured if i get a Piercing bow string... high %age i could get alot more dmg out of barrage as in total, the amount delt is higher than that combo... i mean 30+ dmg to 3+ enermies... not bad.
The poison comes in soo useful in pvp, i am only using kindle arrows untill i get a replacement skill as one good prep is enough... or at least 2 interchangeable.
I am not a fan of zelous as i mainly play pve and it's just too much effort to switch weapons when not fighting so i don't fall over and die from forgetting.
Another question i ask... is it possible to use 2 minor runes.. both the same, e.g. expertise and use them on different armor's. Or can you only use 1 minor per whole armor set?
If not the case, i have used two minor marksmenship and 2 minor expertise and only 1 attribute increase on both expertise and marksmenship, shouldn't it be 2?

Dont forget you can reclaim your pts through the refund system. I think u need ask urself questions like what are u trying to do PvP or PvE killing or disruption etc... Sound like u want pvp I think u can change it up. Check this out:
1. Quick Shot
2. Tiger's Fury
3. Favorable Wind
4. Judges Insight
5. <-->?
6. Whirling D
7. Frozen Soil
8. Light Of Dwyana
With the above build you can be a machine gun and hand out damage fast.

You only need 3 in Beastmastery, +1 from a minor rune to make it 4, to make good usage of Tiger's Fury. I'm sure you can free up points for that somehow.

Level 3 Beastmastery gives 7 second Tiger's Fury.
The best prep is Melandru's Arrows.

Lightning Reflexes - Stance
For 5-10 seconds, you have a 75% chance to "evade" melee and arrow attacks, and attack 33% faster.
Tiger's Fury - Stance
All your non-attack skills are disabled for 5 seconds. For 5-10 seconds, you attack 33% faster than normal.
Erm... why is tigers fury anywhere near as good as Lightning reflexes? No need for beastmastery. As for Melendrus arrows, i don't like it, poison lasts longer and degens ther health faster... also leaving an elite spot open.
Incendiary Arrows {Elite} - Preparation
For 8 seconds, your arrows interrupt and set your target 'On Fire' for 1~3 seconds.
Now thats a good prep!! I mean... ok it has 24 for seconds to recharge... expertise 12, its less than 12 seconds... 4 seconds at most gap without it on...

Perhaps you've used lighting reflexes before and noticed the 30 second recharge? Yeah, I'd use that over Tiger's Fury with it's 10 second recharge...
In reality, Tiger's Fury is just better. If you have a Prep in your bar, your build probably isn't a good candidate for Barrage.

Barrage is death incarnate in PvE, no doubt about it. However I agree that it's overrated for PvP. If your secondary doesn't give you a way to buff yourself, then you'll either want to use preps or forget about damage, in either case Barrage won't help your build.
I don't think there is a "Best Prep," unless "Not Ignite Arrows" counts. It's a matter of preference and what you want to do.
Does it only take 3 Beast Mastery to get 7 seconds!? Shoot! I put 4 in it! Granted, there are a few spirits in BM worth having, but still, waste of points. I will fix.

Meh... don't want to go near BM, i have only have a few skills left to unlock/collect for expertise/marksmen/wilderness... i have no skill points left to start BM so ill just leave it out. I might however try and create a barrage build.
I know this new question has been posted before but why not continue here...
Firstly, I have a monk secondary profession...
What is the maximum amount of dmg i could get out of this then, i will start, you guys add R/MO skills to the build to get me a nice pvp, pve (less worried about) barrage build.

quick shot is a great elite.. and sounds like u dont even understand what it does, so why bash it? it shoots an arrow twice as fast, not an arrow that moves twice as fast

It goes with a build. Imagine the speed of your arrows with quick shot + spirit of winds + wind prepppppp. They would be insane. In a all ranger build relying on spirits in GW you would kill. Thats why. in Pvp its about taking ur target down as soon as possible then moviong to the next.
